How to Cook Bacon in the Oven

Bacon! What would breakfast be without bacon?!

When I started planning out content for ATHT Breakfast Month, I knew that we had to kick off the month with a tutorial on how to cook bacon in the oven. When it comes to bacon, you’re probably in the minority if you don’t like it. It’s a staple on breakfast and brunch plates, a flavorful addition to salads, a crunchy topping on mashed potatoes, and can take your roasted veggies to the next level.

Bacon is just delicious, and while I wouldn’t recommend eating it every single day, using it as a condiment in some of your meals can add a serious punch of salty smoky flavor.

Here’s the thing about bacon though, a lot of people are actually scared to cook it. If you’ve made bacon on the stove top, you’re probably more than familiar with bacon grease popping and splattering out of the skillet and onto the stove, counters, or even you. It’s not always the most pleasant experience.

No one wants to feel like they’re putting their safety at risk, no matter how delicious the bacon, and thank goodness you don’t have to! You can make your bacon in the oven and all of those grease splattering nightmares will be a thing of the past.

How To Make Perfect Bacon Every Time

Cooking bacon in the oven is such an easy fool-proof way to get perfectly cooked bacon strips every single time. All you have to do is make sure you keep an eye on your bacon while it’s in the oven and pull it out when it’s your version of perfect.

I find that my bacon typically takes around twenty to twenty-five minutes to cook in the oven, but it can also vary depending on thickness. Obviously the thicker your bacon, the longer it might take to cook while the thinner your bacon, the less time it might take. The trick is just to pay attention and pull it out of the oven when it’s as crispy or as chewy as you’d like.
