Are y'all into football? I'm not. I could literally care less. Honestly, I don't really care about sports, the only exception is Carolina basketball, because well - CAROLINA basketball. Other than that, I'm not really into the whole football season thing. You know what am into? Football season party food. Wings, dips, chili, all of those quintessential game time foods, I am completely and totally into them. You don't need football season as an excuse to eat chicken wings, but I figure if there was ever a  food synonymous with football it's chicken wings. I'm pretty sure that they've been served at every single Super Bowl party I've ever been to. Football fan or not, who doesn't love a good chicken wing? Seriously, they're undefeated. For real though, if there is someone in your life that does not like chicken wings, it may be time to reevaluate that relationship. Ok, I'm joking...slightly. 

There was a time when I thought wings were one of those foods that I could only order from a restaurant. But then a couple years ago I got really into baking my own wings at home and tossing them in whatever sauce or seasoning I wanted. It's a super simple and fairly hands off process that leaves you with delicious wings every single time. These buffalo wings are no different. You just bake them for 45-50 minutes, toss them in your favorite warm buffalo sauce, and serve with your favorite dipping sauce like my dairy-free ranch or blue cheese dressing. No frying with a ton of unhealthy oil or fuss involved. *whispers* Honestly, I think these taste better than the fried wings, but that's personal preference. Y'all don't attack me. You can easily make this Whole30 compliant by using a Whole30 compliant sauce like Tessamae's or by making this recipe for Whole30 buffalo sauce from The Real Food RDs. Make these for your next party, game night, or just for yourself, I promise they won't disappoint!

Easy Baked Buffalo Wings

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 - 2 pounds split chicken wings 
  • 1 tablespoon avocado oil 
  • 1/2 - 1 tsp sea salt (depending on the saltiness of your buffalo sauce)
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 cup buffalo sauce (this is my favorite)

Method:

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
  2. Pat the chicken wings dry and then toss them with the avocado oil, onion powder, garlic powder, and sea salt. 
  3. Place the chicken wings on a baking sheet in a single layer. Bake the wings for 45-50 minutes until golden brown and the skin is crispy, flipping half way through. 
  4. While the wings are baking, heat your buffalo sauce in a small sauce pan over low heat. 
  5. Once the wings are done, let them rest for 5 minutes. Then toss them in the warm buffalo sauce until well coated. I like to use a large mixing bowl for this.
  6. Serve immediately with dairy-free ranch, celery, and carrots!
